Tribute  to Miriam at road renaming

By J.Lo

โ€œSeeing Agham Road and BIR Road renamed Senator Miriam P. Defensor-Santiago Avenue is truly heartwarmingโ€ฆ tribute to her incredible achievements andย ย reminder of her unwavering dedication and love of country,โ€ Vice President and concurrent Education Sectary Sara Duterte-Carpio said inย ย speech paid tribute toย ย late senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, as she graced unveiling ofย ย street marker renaming Agham and BIR roads in Quezon City to Senator Miriam P. Defensor-Santiago Avenue.

โ€œSenator Miriam P. Defensor-Santiago was  true inspiration, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations,โ€ she stressed.

Duterte was joined during  ceremony by QC Mayor Ma. Josefina โ€œJoyโ€ Belmonte-Alimurung, QC 1st District Rep. Arjo Atayde and  late senatorโ€™s husband, lawyer Jun Santiago.

Duterte said Santiagoโ€™s life story is  โ€œtestament to  Filipino youth that anything is possible if we put our heart and soul into it.โ€

Duterte cited Santiagoโ€™s several achievements such as becoming  first Filipino and first Asian elected to International Criminal Court;  first Filipino commissioner for International Development Organization and  recipient of  Ramon Magsaysay Award for Government Service in 1988.

โ€œHer achievements are testament to  power of hard work and perseverance in adversityโ€ฆas we stroll along this newly dedicated road, let us all take moment to remember Senator Miriamโ€™s bravery and convictionโ€ฆshe fought tirelessly to improve  lives of our fellow Filipinos, and her legacy will continue to inspire us to do the same,โ€ Duterte said.

Duterte also cited Santiagoโ€™s fight against corruption.

โ€œMay this road serve as  expression of our gratitude for  remarkable and unforgettable and colorful Filipina who fought for truth and upheld legal brilliance while fighting against corruption in  government,โ€ Duterte said.

โ€œMay this road serve as  reminder of her lasting legacy and motivate us to follow in her footsteps,โ€ she added.

Santiago ran for president in 1992 but lost to  late Fidel V. Ramos. She also ran for president in 2016 but lost to Saraโ€™s father, Rodrigo Duterte. Santiago succumbed to cancer in September 2016,  few months after  May 9 elections.

Agham Road and BIR Road were renamed to Senator Miriam P. Defensor-Santiago Avenue pursuant to Republic Act (RA) No. 11936,  lapsed into law  month ago.

China has โ€˜No right to stay in Ph watersโ€™

By Nidz Godino

โ€œNo amount of aggression can undo the fact Chinese governmentโ€™s claims toย ย West Philippine Sea have already been invalidated byย ย Permanent Court of Arbitration,โ€ Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri said, referring to 2016 arbitral ruling that invalidated Chinaโ€™s sweeping nine-dash line claim called Chinaย ย bully.

Senators  reminded  Chinese coast guard  it does not have  right to trespass into, much less remain, in Philippine waters.

Senators  were reacting to CCGโ€™s latest act of harassment in  West Philippine Sea,  Chinese fired water cannon at one of  Philippine vessels delivering provisions for soldiers stationed on BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin Shoal.

Zubiri said  incident has exposed โ€œChina as  bully: using size and brute strength to illegally encroach upon our exclusive economic zone and enforce  baseless right to drive away our protectors.โ€

โ€œWater cannons and blockades will not dampen  will and resolve of our Navy and our Coast Guard to protect our exclusive economic zone in  West Philippine Sea,โ€ Zubiri said.

Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda said there was no truth to  CCGโ€™s claim  was  Philippine vessels that were โ€œtrespassing,โ€ as  area where incident happened was well within  Philippinesโ€™ exclusive economic zone.

โ€œPhilippines takes every opportunity to assert  significance and importance of 2016 Arbitral Award in bilateral and multilateral foraโ€ฆour country is consistent UNCLOS and Award are twin anchors of its actions and its policy in  West Philippine Sea,โ€ Legarda said.

She lauded those involved in  resupply mission as well as  troops stationed on Sierra Madre for โ€œfulfilling their duty to the nation.โ€

For his part, Senator JV Ejercito said โ€œlatest unprovoked acts of coercion and dangerous maneuvers against  legitimate and routine Philippine rotation and resupply missionโ€ were not only illegal, but also  proof of Chinaโ€™s insincerity in maintaining stability in the region.

โ€œLatest bullying exposes Chinaโ€™s lack of sincerity in peaceful talksโ€ฆwe cannot allow this act of coercion to jeopardize our territory, security and peace, I demand that China immediately cease these unlawful activities, vacate the vicinity of Ayungin Shoal and refrain from encroaching on our territoryโ€ฆthis is ours, not yoursโ€ฆrespect our sovereign rights; stop harassment,โ€ Ejercito said.

For Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, Philippines should consider seeking support from  UN General Assembly amid Chinaโ€™s increasingly aggressive actions.

โ€œOur government should seriously consider heeding adopted Senate Resolution No. 79 which recommends several courses of action,  filing of  resolution before  United Nations General Assembly to call for  cessation of all activities  harass Philippine vessels and violate our established rights in  West Philippine Sea, in  show of solidarity, my colleagues and I crossed party lines in unanimously passing this resolution  calls out China for its repeated incursions in  WPS and incessant harassment of Filipino fishermen, patrol vessels and resupply mission teams, recent developments involving Chinaโ€™s unlawful acts and increasing aggression against our vessels are leaving us with no other recourse but to take appropriate action in asserting and securing our sovereign rights over our exclusive economic zoneโ€ฆ China should be made to stop its illegal activities ,โ€ Estrada said.

Speaker Martin Romualdez said  incident has underscored  need of  Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to build up its capabilities for maintaining peace and upholding sovereignty, and not for waging war.

โ€œOur nation stands at  pivotal juncture, where  ripples of global tensions are felt even within serene waters of WPS…  here that our brave men and women in uniform stand as sentinels of sovereignty, safeguarding our nationโ€™s territory against ceaseless tides of adversity,โ€ Romualdez said at  forum of  National Defense College of the Philippines Alumni Association at Camp Aquinaldo.

He also conveyed his โ€œadmiration and gratitude to courageous and dedicated Filipino soldiersโ€ and reaffirmed ommitment of  House of Representatives to help bolster AFPโ€™s operational capabilities.

โ€œHouse of Representatives, fully aware of  weight of this responsibility, has been unyielding in its commitment to fortify  operational capabilities of our Armed Forces. ..we have embarked on  strategic journey, not only to modernize our military assets but also to ensure that our personnel are equipped with  fortitude of skill and  assurance of  nationโ€™s unwavering support,โ€ he added.

According to Romualdez, some P282.7 billion of  P5.768-trillion proposed national budget for 2024 has been earmarked for  defense sector.  This was 21.6 percent higher than this yearโ€™s allocation.

House had also removed some P1.23 billion in confidential funds of civilian agencies like  Office of the Vice President and  Department of Education and reallocated them to agencies mandated to uphold national security.

This โ€œstrategic reallocationโ€ includes P300 million to National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, P100 million to  National Security Council, P200 million to Philippine Coast Guard for intelligence activities and ammunition and P381.3 million for Department of Transportation for  development or expansion of Pag-Asa Island Airport.

Romualez pointed out allocation demonstrates โ€œour dedication to maintaining strong and credible defense posture, one that sends  clear message that we will not compromise when it comes to safeguarding our national interests,. as  nation, we must take proactive measures to enhance our defense capabilities and ensure that we have necessary resources to effectively protect our sovereign rightsโ€

While commending civilian help in resupply missions, Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez cautioned  AFP against such practice, saying it exposes civilian lives to danger.

โ€œLetโ€™s end this practiceโ€ฆ I do not see  rationale for using civilian boats and crew in delivering supplies to our soldiers whose presence in  remote part of  West Philippine Sea symbolizes our national sovereignty and territorial integrity there,โ€ said Rodriguez,  member of  House committee on national defense and security.

Instead of tapping civilians for  task, Rodriguez recommended  provisions for Sierra Madre be air dropped by  air assets of  AFP.

โ€œDanger Air Force and Navy personnel would face in those missions is  same as that civilian boat crew have to contend withโ€ฆbut unlike civilians who are just doing  civic duty, it is  responsibility of military to resupply our troops in Ayungin and protect our countryโ€™s national sovereignty and territory,โ€ Rodriguez added military could use โ€œnumber of strategies in air dropping supplies.โ€

He cited the use of decoy planes with military videographers and photographers documenting  mission.

Lawmaker  also suggested AFP and DND request countryโ€™s allies like United States to deploy surveillance aircraft to monitor airdrops.

He said it would be difficult for Chinaโ€™s Peopleโ€™s Liberation Army and Coast Guard to block Philippine planes dropping supplies for Filipino soldiers in Ayungin.

โ€œThey would have to intentionally crash their aircraft with ours or shoot down our planesโ€ฆwe donโ€™t want that to happen, but if it happens, then our Mutual Defense Treaty with United States will come into play,โ€ he added.

โ€œWe should not be avoiding  Chinese thereโ€ฆthey should be  ones avoiding us in our territoryโ€ฆ they should stop intruding in Ayungin and Scarborough Shoal off Pangasinan and Zambales, and any part of our 200-mile exclusive economic zone,โ€ he added.

Allies โ€“ particularly  United States and European Union  have expressed support for Philippines against Chinaโ€™s acts of intimidation at sea,  latest  was last attempt by  Chinese Coast Guard to top  resupply mission for BRP Sierra Madre outpost in Ayungin (Second Thomas) Shoal using water cannon.

CCGโ€™s hostile actions in Ayungin Shoal โ€œare inconsistent with international law and follow  pattern of Beijingโ€™s dangerous operational behavior in  South China Sea,โ€ according to US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.

โ€œWe stand with our Philippine ally,โ€ Miller said  United States stands shoulder-to-shoulder with our Philippine ally in face of  Peopleโ€™s Republic of Chinaโ€™s repeated harassment in  South China Sea,โ€ he stressed.

He said  US recognizes 2016 international tribunalโ€™s decision invalidating Chinaโ€™s sweeping claims over  South China Sea, including Ayungin Shoal, as he urged China to โ€œrespect  high seas freedoms of navigation guaranteed to all States under international lawโ€ and  UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

US also reaffirmed  commitment under  Mutual Defense Treaty to come to  Philippinesโ€™ aid in case of armed attacks in  South China Sea.

โ€œUnited States reaffirms that Article IV of the 1951 US-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty extends to armed attacks on Philippine armed forces, public vessels or aircraft โ€“ including those of its Coast Guard  anywhere in South China Sea,โ€ Miller said.

European Union (EU) Ambassador Luc Vรฉron also reiterated  EUโ€™s โ€œsupport to  Philippines in its call for  full observance of International Law in the South China Sea.โ€

โ€œIn view of event in South China Sea, Germany reiterates its support forPhilippines in advocating respect for international law in  South China Sea, as  essential pillar for peace and security,โ€ German Ambassador Andreas Pfaffernoschke said. Germany is a member of  EU.

New Zealand Ambassador Peter Kell also expressed his countryโ€™s โ€œdeep concern at ongoing dangerous actions towards Philippine vessels at Second Thomas Shoal.โ€

โ€œWe call for all parties to refrain from actions  risk safety and undermine regional stability, and for peaceful resolution of disputes in accordance with UNCLOS,โ€ he added.

Earlier,  National Task Force on the West Philippine Sea reported  CCG and maritime militia vessels โ€œrecklessly harassed, blocked and executed dangerous maneuvers in another attempt to illegally impede or obstruct routine resupply and rotation mission to BRP Sierra Madre at Ayungin Shoalโ€ on  morning of Nov. 10.

But China claimed it was  Philippine ships  โ€œarbitrarily trespassed into  waters near Chinaโ€™s Renโ€™ai Reef,โ€ name assigned by Beijing to Ayungin Shoal.

China demanded  Manila stop infringing on its territorial sovereignty after taking what it described as “control measures” against Philippine ships at  contested South China Sea outpost.

“China Coast Guard followed  Philippine ships in accordance with law, took control measures, and made temporary special arrangements for  Philippines to transport food and other necessary daily supplies,  Philippines’ actions infringe on China’s territorial sovereignty, violate  Declaration on Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea, and are contrary to its own commitments, ” China Coast Guard spokesman Gan Yu said.

“We urge  Philippines to immediately stop its infringing actions.”

“China Coast Guard will continue to carry out rights protection and law enforcement actions in waters under China’s jurisdiction in accordance with law, resolutely safeguarding national sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.”

China claims almost  entire South China Sea, through which trillions of dollars in trade passes annually, and has ignored  2016 international ruling that its assertion has no legal basis.

Over  past decade, Beijing has deployed vessels to patrol  waters and built artificial islands that it has militarized to reinforce its stance.

By Nidz Godino

โ€œInvestments are crucial to unlockingย ย Philippinesโ€™ economic potentialโ€ฆpartnering with these economic partners and focusing on sectorsย ย present great opportunities boost our chances of attaining investment-led growth that will paveย ย way for resilient, prosperous, and sustainable future for Filipinos,โ€ Stratbase president Dindo Manhit said majority of Filipinos wantย ย Marcos administration to strengthenย ย countryโ€™s economic relations withย ย United States and Japan,ย ย recent survey conducted by Pulse Asia showed.

Sept. 10 to 14,2023 survey, commissioned by Stratbase ADR Institute, asked  respondents to select from  list of up to three countries  they want  government to strengthen economic relations with.

US topped  list with 74 percent of  respondents choosing it as among their three, followed by Japan with 55 percent.

It was followed by Australia with 46 percent; Canada, 40 percent;  European Union, 26 percent, and  United Kingdom with 21 percent.

Only 19 percent of respondents selected China as among  three countries with which they want Philippines to have stronger economic relations. Four percent selected India.

Survey  results were released during forum on Philippine manufacturing sector organized by Stratbase.

During forum, Manhit agreed Philippines should strengthen its ties trading and investment partners such as  US and Japan.

โ€œPursuing  more investment-led growth with these traditional partners will help in generating better quality jobs and employment opportunities,โ€ he stressed.

Same  survey also asked  respondents whether or not they agree  private sector plays  instrumental role in ensuring economic security.

Some 70 percent agreed with  statement, while only six percent disagreed. Twenty-four percent were ambivalent.

Respondents  were also asked to select from  list up to three ways  they think  private sector can help in  attainment of economic security.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. met with French Ambassador Marie Fontanel  to discuss such partnership, among other matters of common interest.

France has been among  countries openly expressed its support for  Philippines amid  countryโ€™s problems with China in WPS.

GMA maintains supporter of Romualdez

By Nidz Godino

โ€œThere is always intrigue in politics, often pettyโ€ฆif some intriguers were able to convince Speaker Romualdez of falsehood that I do not support his leadership inย ย House, then there is nothing I can do,โ€ despite her ouster as House deputy speaker, former president and Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has expressed what she describes as continuous support forย ย leadership of Speaker Martin Romualdez.

In  statement, Arroyo has always supported Romualdezโ€™s speakership as he was chosen by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, for the post.

During  plenary session , Arroyo and Davao City Rep. Isidro Ungab were replaced as deputy speakers by Isabela Rep. Antonio Albano and Lanao del Sur Rep. Yasser Alonto Balidong, respectively.

According to House Majority Leader Manuel Jose Dalipe, Arroyo and Ungab were relieved from their posts because out of  nine deputy speakers who signed  โ€œpivotal House resolution,โ€ only  two did not sign House Resolution 1414.

Dalipe said HR 1414 is important as it manifests  collective intention of  House leadership to rise in unison in defense of institution.

Resolution  is also  manifestation of  House membersโ€™ support to Romualdez amid attacks by former president Rodrigo Duterte, who was enraged by  chamberโ€™s decision to remove  P650 million in confidential fund of his daughter Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Arroyo explained  she was unable to sign HR 1414 because she was abroad during  signing.

โ€œIn any case, resolution does not contain anything new for me, because I have always supported his leadership as Speaker,โ€ she said.

But even as ordinary congressman, Arroyo gave assurance that she would remain true to her word to  President that she would continue to support โ€œhis preferred manโ€ for House speaker and that is Romualdez.

Arroyo said  from  time she learned  Marcos preferred Romualdez to lead  chamber, she supported him as speaker, and advised  President of this in writing.

She  has never taken or supported any action to remove Romualdez from his post.

โ€œIn fact, I have publicly stated that I have given up any plans to aspire for  Speakership again, in this and any future Congress that I would have  honor to be  part of …  Having made myself clear, I think we should now move on to more pressing national concerns,โ€ Arroyo said.

For his part, Ungab  would continue supporting  Marcos administration even if he has been removed as House deputy speaker.

Ungab  accepts his removal without any bitterness. He has accepted his fate with  thought he had carried out his duties well as deputy speaker.

Ungab has been  long-time ally of Duterte.

Meanwhile, ranking officials of once-powerful PDP-Laban political party  heeded  advice of their former chairman, former president Duterte, to severe ties with  party once they no longer believe in their advocacies.

Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales Jr. of Pampangaโ€™s third district, who was forced to resign from PDP-Laban  after naming Duterte as the one who launched  vilification campaign against  House and its leadership, has now joined  ruling Lakas-CMD party.

Inclusion  of Gonzales, along with fellow PDP-Laban members  Reps. Carmelo Lazatin II of Pampanga and Zaldy Villa of Siquijor  now brings to 77  total number of Lakas-CMD in House, making it most dominant party in  chamber.

Fast-track relocation of Yolanda survivors

By Nidz Godino

โ€œTen years have gone by and yet memory of this tragedy remains indelible in our hearts and in our thoughts,โ€ President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said in his speech duringย ย commemoration in Tacloban City, Yolandaโ€™s ground zero nation markedย ย 10th anniversary of Super Typhoon Yolanda,ย ย directed government agencies to fast-trackย ย relocation of survivors and bolsterย ย countryโ€™s disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation measures.

Marcos led  wreath laying at  Yolanda Memorial Monument and attended  mass at  Tacloban City Convention Center in honor of those who died during  super typhoon.

In 2013, Yolanda left over 6,000 people dead, but  actual death toll may be higher.

โ€œTo all  national leaders, all local leaders, then and now, private sector, international and local organizations, volunteers and donors: accept our eternal gratitude,โ€ Chief Executive told  audience,  included members of  diplomatic corps, Cabinet officials, senators and thousands of Yolanda survivors.

During  event, FMJ led  ceremonial distribution of certificates of award to 3,000 beneficiaries of National Housing Authority (NHA)โ€™s Yolanda permanent housing sites.

FMJ gave assurance  housing units to be constructed by his administration would be โ€œsuitable for  families  lost their homes.โ€

โ€œFirst reconstruction of  houses did not pass the standard of Mayor Alfred,โ€ Marcos said, referring to his cousin, Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez.

โ€œWe made sure  facilities that were being created are now suitable for  families that lost their homes…  they continue  recovery,  rehabilitation,  rebuilding still continues,โ€ he added.

Romualdez noted  some Tacloban residents are still living in danger zones.

He said almost half of  houses built between 2013 and 2016 were incomplete and substandard.

FMJ directed Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development and  NHA to accelerate  provision of housing units and land titles to beneficiaries.

โ€œAnd I also urge Yolanda Response Clusters to work closely with concerned local governments to address  lingering issues of  different affected communities,โ€ FMJ said.

As for climate change, FMJ said  countryโ€™s disaster preparedness, recovery and resiliency needed to be improved.

He noted government continues to build disaster-resilient evacuation and emergency operations centers and establish more centralized and efficient early warning systems, incident command systems and disaster response strategies.

FMJ  also mentioned  deployment of new technologies, such as GeoRiskPH and PlanSmart along with  continuous conduct of information and education campaigns and simulation drills, which he said are useful for saving lives.

Stayย firm, united amid destab talk – CPNP

By Nidz Godino

โ€œI want us to unite as an institutionโ€ฆwe should be one in these common grounds in trust, unity and shared commitment to service,โ€ Philippine National Police chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. ralliedย ย officers and personnel ofย ย PNP to remain firm and united as he warned of challenges that may test their institution.

Acorda madeย ย appeal inย ย speech duringย ย donning of ranks and turnover ceremonies of newly appointed police commissioned officers forย ย lateral entry program for technical officers at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

PNP chief did not give specifics when he discussed  challenges  they might face in  near future.

โ€œI hope this institution will not be tested in  coming months or days, but if it will be tested, I hope that we are united,โ€ he said.

Staying united is  only way for them to save  nation, according to Acorda.

While he did not give other details, there have been reports of possible destabilization moves against  Marcos administration by some retired generals.

News  briefing showed Acorda saying  destabilization moves have been part of their counterintelligence (CI) efforts.

โ€œDestabilization moves come out every now and then, and part of our CI effort, we include that in our monitoring,โ€ he stressed.

Acorda assured  public PNP remains solidly behind President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, who he said is sensitive to  sentiments and plight of police officers.

While there were issues in  military and uniformed personnel (MUP) pension system,  issue  Acorda said some sectors tried to weaponize, he emphasized  these were already properly addressed by concerned government agencies.

โ€œThere is no reason for PNP members to be demoralized,โ€ he said.

Total  of 43 police officers passed lateral entry program, 14 of whom are chemists, eight are medical doctors and six are lawyers.

Also included are dentists, psychologists, engineers and  priest.

While he does not see anything wrong with  former president talking to retired generals amid coup talks against FMJ, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada is hoping  there would be no destabilization as it wonโ€™t do any good for the country.

At  Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum , Estrada, whose father, former president Joseph Estrada, was ousted in 2001, emphasized that any destabilization would not do any good for the country and that  government has to move forward for  welfare of Filipino people.

โ€œI donโ€™t want coups to happen again; we cannot move forward when there is  coupโ€ฆwe are going backward, nothing will happen in our country, I donโ€™t want it to happen again,โ€ younger Estrada said.

Elder  Estrada was ousted from  presidency following  military uprising after  impeachment trial,  his camp described as  โ€œkangaroo court.โ€

He was replaced by his then vice president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Younger  Estrada also doubted  any coup attempt would succeed since โ€œPresident Marcos gave everything to improve  lives of  Filipino people.โ€

Senator  also pointed out  nothing wrong with former president Rodrigo Duterte talking to retired generals, who used to serve him as their commander-in-chief.

Estrada added  he does not think  Duterte will be ever involved in an effort to oust FMJ.

โ€œTalking with  retired generals is his right as  former president… I donโ€™t think he is involved in destabilizing  present administration… maybe, they were just chatting,  same as before,โ€ Estrada said.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. revealed  there is  group of retired military officers trying to convince military troops to overthrow  Marcos administration.

Brawner said active members of  AFP should not pay attention to  group, but instead focus their efforts on  fulfillment of  AFPโ€™s transformation roadmap.

Amid these reports, Sen. Ronald dela Rosa called people who would support destabilization plots โ€œcrazy.โ€

Dela Rosa added even if he is  retired general and himself had served as PNP chief, he is not aware of any destabilization efforts against Marcos.

If, indeed, some military generals are really espousing efforts to remove  present administration, Dela Rosa advised them to โ€œjust relax and enjoy retirement.โ€

He  respects  opinion of  elder Duterte, but it does not mean that he shared  same view.

Former  president publicly accused Romualdez of sabotaging his daughterโ€™s request for confidential funds in  proposed 2024 budget, which  lower chamber decided to reallocate to agencies focused on defending West Philippine Sea after several panel and plenary debates.

Meanwhile, Sen. Imee Marcos eaffirmed her support for elder Duterte, following  latterโ€™s tussle with  House of Representativesโ€™ leadership over his remarks describing  chamber as โ€œrotten.โ€

In  ambush interview with Senate reporters, FMJ vowed to continue supporting  embattled former chief executive, describing him as  โ€œtrue friend.โ€

She declared herself  true โ€œloyalistโ€ to Dutertes, being only governor who declared support for  then Davao City mayor in 2015.

Marcos learned how to be loyal to her allies from  experience of her father,  late former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr., who had gained scores of loyalists even after being deposed in  1986 EDSA people power revolution  sent  Marcos family into exile before their stunning political comeback.

โ€œWhat is  Marcosesโ€™ secret why we still have loyalists ready to fight for usโ€ฆwe have loyalists because we ourselves are loyalistsโ€ฆthat is  legacy left behind by my father,โ€ Marcos Sr.โ€™s eldest daughter said.

By J.Lo

CIVIL Society group is now selling rice at P25 per kilo appears to be reaching President Ferdinand Marcos Jrโ€™s goal since his presidency starts.

Rice farmers, aided by  provincial government in reducing their labor inputs, have been selling rice anew for P25 per kilo at the โ€œBigasan ng Bayanโ€ outlet located in  Food Terminal Market of Negros Occidental (FTMON) since Nov. 7,2023.

Federation of Irrigators Association of Central Negros-Bago River Irrigation System (FIACN-BRIS) president Pedro Limpangog, said group are targeting 470 priority consumers to avail themselves of  low priced rice.
