4 BJMP officers foiled PDL ‘rescue’ try
By J.Lo
JAIL authorities are looking into foiled attempt to free Chinese inmate in Paranaque City. Four personnels of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology were recognized for thwarting attempt to free Chinese inmate from BJMP custody during ambush in Parañaque on Monday.
Jail Officer 2 Leif Joseph Talanquines was awarded Medal of Wounded Gallantry.
He suffered gunshot to shoulder when 11 suspects led by Chinese nationals fired at BJMP van transporting Hu Yang, 37, said to be leader of crime ring.
Three other BJMP officers received Medals of Merit for their bravery.
Attack on BJMP personnel happened after Yang had attended court hearing in Makati City on his kidnapping case. BJMP chief Ruel Rivera gave awards to the jail officers in recognition of their swift action despite threat to their lives.
Two Chinese and four Filipino suspects were nabbed. Their five companions eluded arrest.
