FMJ plays Santa to hundreds of kids

By Nidz Godino

“This is  very, very happy day for me dahil tradisyon ito dati pa dito sa Palasyo,” President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. recalling his younger days in Malacañang played Santa Claus by bringing 600 children to Malacañang for a gift-giving activity. FMJ and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos handed out toys and school supplies to the children and even joined them in some games during the “Balik Sigla, Bigay Saya: Nationwide Gift Giving.”

“Gumagawa kami ng children’s party ‘pag Pasko para naman lahat ng ating kabataan sa buong Pilipinas ay merong Pasko ,” he stressed.

The “Balik Sigla, Bigay Saya” program was simultaneously held in 40 other locations across the country.

In his speech, the Chief Executive said he’s elated to see children in the Palace, saying Christmas is for children and the holiday season will never be complete without them.

“I’m very happy. Christmas will never be happy if we do not see the joy in our children, grandchildren, and the youth, that is why this is a very happy day for me because it has been a tradition here in the Palace. We make a children’s party here every Christmas to make every Filipino child experience Christmas” he said.

FMJ made  similar remark during  Christmas Tree lighting on Saturday evening, pointing out that the government has been doing everything to ensure Filipino children can celebrate Christmas.

The gifts  children in Malacañang received were provided through  generosity of private businesses as well as government agencies, including the Office of the President, Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
