Fake peso bill scare

“Ang paalala natin sa ating kababayan ay magpapalit sila ng pinaghirapan nilang pera sa mga authorized money changer,” Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo said PNP urged public to be vigilant against proliferation of fake peso bills as Christmas season approaches. With Filipinos abroad expected to send money to their families in the Philippines for their holiday spending, Fajardo warned crimes against property such as theft and robbery, as well as fraud and deceit, go up during holidays.
PNP called on Filipinos to be cautious in their transactions, particularly purchases.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas earlier advised public to use “Feel-Look-Tilt” method in checking security features of banknotes.
Fajardo on the other hand said people should also be careful in buying gifts and supplies especially from online shops, and to start buying now to avoid holiday rush.
