BuCor chief axed

Former Armed Forces chief Gregorio Catapang Jr. is now officer-in-charge of New Bilibid Prison (NBP) after Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla suspended Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director-General Gerald Bantag .ry Remulla issued order upon recommendation of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to allow for an impartial investigation on the death of alleged middleman in the murder of broadcaster Percibal Mabasa, popularly known as Percy Lapid, at NBP.
The Justice chief said alleged middleman who died at the NBP on October 18 is known by three names Crisanto Villamor, Jun Globa Villamor and Jun Garcia Villamor.
He further disclosed that another alleged “player, middleman” in the murder of Lapid is in police custody at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Taguig City.
