Cesar Chavez, shortlisted as next Press secretary

By Nidz Godino

“Early next week we will announce, friend to the media ” President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.said as the next Press Secretary is expected to be named next week, no less than President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. disclosed in his brief conversation with the newly inducted officers of the Malacañang Press Corps, the Chief Executive bared  candidates for the post are “down to three names”. He, however, declined to mention those on his shortlist.

Asked what qualities the replacement of lawyer Rose Beatrix “Trixie” Cruz-Angeles must possess, Marcos stressed the next chief of the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) must be “very experienced” in dealing with  media.

“‘Yung kaibigan ninyo… we obviously need somebody who is very experienced in … probably  journalist or  media practitioner…that’s what is needed, someone who knows what kind of messaging is needed so that whatever we want to put out gets out there,” stated the President.

“That’s what’s important, that we get the information, the messaging across,” he stressed.

Cruz-Angeles earlier this week resigned as administration’s chief communicator citing “health reasons”.

Some of the names that cropped up as her possible successor include former radioman and now Transportation Undersecretary Cesar Chavez, former TV reporter and now Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) director Gilbert Remulla, and former Estrada administration mouthpiece Mike Toledo.
