25K students to benefit from Libreng Sakay-LRTA

“The program is from Mondays to Saturdays…we will ask for fees from students on Sundays and holidays when there are no classes,” Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) administrator Hernando Cabrera said LRT2 is now being prepared for influx of around 25,000 students daily once schools reopen on August 22.
Cabrera reiterated students may avail themselves of free train rides on LRT2 from August 22 to November 5, 2022, as per directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
He said 20% fare discount for students, senior citizens, and persons with disability (PWD) will resume by November 6.
Cabrera also said students need only to present their actual school ID or their original enrollment form to passenger assistance booth to get their single journey ticket.
Those in graduate school and guardians of students are not included in the program, he stressed.
As part of their preparations, Cabrera fixed all restrooms and other facilities in LRT2 stations, continuing disinfection in every end station, and are deploying more train personnel.
“Of course, we are preparing our trains as well… instruction given to us was there should be no trains malfunctioning once students go back to school.
,” he added.
Aside from the LRT2, Marcos also approved giving free train rides for students on Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT3) and Philippine National Railways (PNR) until November.
