Many distance learning features to be maintained in new normal- DepEd
By Creselda Canda-Lopez
“Many aspects of distance learning, will become regular features when we go back to normal,” Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan said.
DepEd is eyeing to maintain many features of distance learning when Philippines goes back to normal from COVID-19 pandemic.
Malaluan said these aspects from remote learning will become regular features in teaching and learning.
“There are many things in the learning delivery process that have been opened during this time of pandemic that will become regular features of teaching and learning,” he added.
Due to threat of COVID-19, the DepEd has set up distance learning where students do not need to go to campuses to continue their studies. Students only have to accomplish and submit learning modules or join online classes.
The DepEd also removed around 60% of curriculum to adjust for remote learning approach.
After closing pilot phase of limited face-to-face classes in the country, the DepEd this February authorized regional directors to hold in-person classes under expanded phase.
