COVID-19 ave daily attack rate in Batangas, Quezon, Rizal now ‘moderate’ —OCTA

“NCR, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, and Rizal at moderate risk with negative one week growth rates in new COVID-19 cases,” OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said COVID-19 average daily attack rate (ADAR) in Batangas, Quezon, and Rizal provinces is now “moderate,” citing indicators.

In a tweet, David showed ADAR for Batangas is at 9.56, Rizal at 9.55, and Quezon at 5.30.

ADAR refers to incidence showing average number of new cases in a period per 100,000 people.

National Capital Region and Region 4A remained at “moderate risk” classification for COVID-19.

Both Cavite and Laguna have  growth rate of -65%, followed by Rizal with -62%. Quezon has -55% growth rate, while Batangas has -51%. Meanwhile, NCR recorded a -54% growth rate.

Earlier , David said  actual COVID-19 cases in  NCR may be 1.8 times higher than reported numbers by health authorities.

According to OCTA, NCR and Calabarzon showed “very low” reproduction rate and “low” healthcare utilization rate.

COVID-19 positivity rate is “very high” in Laguna with 26% and Batangas with 23%.

David urged public to continue observing minimum public health standards.

“As trends continue to improve in NCR and Calabarzon,  public is advised to continue to observe health protocols,” he said.

The Philippines reported 7,661 additional COVID-19 infections , increasing the total caseload to 3,577,298. 

The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Thursday 8,702 new COVID-19 infections, bringing  country’s total case count to 3,585,461.

The new infections brought country’s active case count to 153,335, of which 143,493 are mild; 4,923 are asymptomatic; 1,528 are severe; and 324 are in critical condition.

Of the cases reported today,  DOH said 8,463 or 97% occurred within  recent 14 days from January 21 to February 3,2022.

The top regions with cases in  recent two weeks were Region 6 with 1,039 or 12%, Region 7 with 799 or 9%, and Region 11 with 785 or 9%.

Total recoveries also climbed to 3,377,958 after 15,290 more patients recovered from the respiratory illness.

The death toll rose to 54,168 with 71 new fatalities.

Of  71 deaths, the DOH said 66 occurred in January 2022, two in October 2021, and one each in September, June, and April 2021 due to  late encoding of death information to its system.

Country’s positivity rate was at 25.5%. The total conducted COVID-19 tests were 42,446.

The DOH noted that 539 duplicates were removed from  total case count, while 29 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

The DOH said all laboratories were operational on February 1, while five labs were not able to submit its data on time.

Latest data from the DOH also showed  44% of  country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 24% of  mechanical ventilators are also in use.

In Metro Manila, 37% of the ICU beds are utilized, while 23% of  ventilators are in use.
