Taylor Swift hit Blur’s Damon Albarn for “she doesn’t write her own songs”

“I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this,” the award-winning American songwriter Taylor Swift wrote in a retweet in a Los Angeles daily.
Our queen of taking back the narrative is slamming against “completely false” claims once more.
Taylor Swift slammed Damon Albarn, the lead singer of Blur and Gorillaz, on Twitter after the British musician told media that she doesn’t write her own songs.
“I write ALL of my own songs…your hot take is completely false and SO damaging…you don’t have to like my songs but it’s really fucked up to try and discredit my writing…wow,” she stressed.
As if that wasn’t enough of a clapback, Taylor wrote in a separate tweet, “I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering.”
Shortly thereafter, Damon released an apology, wherein he also blamed media and claimed Q&A conversation published was “reduced to clickbait.”
“I totally agree with you,” Damon began. “I had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait… I apologize unreservedly and unconditionally…the last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting… I hope you understand.”
Producer Jack Antonoff, who worked with TS on her albums “Lover,” “Folklore,” and “Evermore,” defended the American singer on Twitter, saying, “I’ve never met Damon Albarn and he’s never been to my studio but apparently he knows more than the rest of us about all those songs Taylor writes and brings in. herb.”
Taylor’s other collaborators like Aaron Dessner and Nathan Champman, also responded to Damon’s claims.
While Champman tweeted verifying TS “1,000,000% writes her own songs. And she’s one of the best songwriters of our time,” Dessner said that he wasn’t sure why Damon would want to discredit “Taylor’s brilliant songwriting.”
He added, “But as someone who has gotten to press record around her…your statements couldn’t be further from the truth…you’re obviously completely clueless as to her actual writing and work process.”
Taylor is currently trending on Twitter with nearly 400K tweets.
The Twitter mess was prompted by Damon’s Q&A interview where his interviewer, Mikael Wood, said Taylor was “an excellent songwriter.”
“She doesn’t write her own songs,” Damon responded.
Wood corrected him and said Taylor does write her own music as well as co-write some of her songs, but Damon said it didn’t count.
“That doesn’t count… I know what co-writing is…co-writing is very different to writing… I’m not hating on anybody, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between songwriter and songwriter who co-writes,” Damon said.
He went on to compare TS to “happier than ever” singer Billie Eilish, and said he “was more attracted to that than Taylor Swift.”
TS, who has won 11 Grammy awards and broken two Spotify records, was announced as the first ever global ambassador of Record Store Day earlier this month.
Getting involved in a public feud with fellow musicians isn’t new to Damon. DA in 2015 once told an interviewer that Adele was “insecure” and her 2015 album was “very middle of the road.”
Adele responded on Rolling Stone magazine how she regretted hanging out with Damon.
“It ended up being one of those ‘don’t meet your idol’ moments… and saddest thing was that I was such a big Blur fan growing up…but it was sad, and I regret hanging out with him,” Adele said.
