Agusan del Norte cop is PNP’s 72nd COVID-19 fatality

DEEPEST sympathy to the bereaved family of unidentified police staff sergeant succumbed to coronavirus disease in Agusan Del Norte province recently, raising the total count of COVID-19 deaths in the Philippine National Police to 72.
In a statement PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said fatality was a 42-year-old policeman from Agusan del Norte.
PNP Health Service reported that the policeman suffered from fatigue and shortness of breath on June 14, 2021.
Subsequently, he went to a nearby municipal health center where a doctor advised that he must undertake RT/PCR first before a check-up.
On June 17, the policeman was hospitalized and underwent several laboratory tests. A day later, he finally underwent the RT/PCR test, which yielded positive results for the virus that causes COVID-19.
On June 19, the police officer died while undergoing “endotracheal intubation.”
Likewise, Eleazar sent his condolences to the deceased cop’s family, adding that assistance and benefits will be provided.
The police force’s health service registered 97 new COVID-19 cases among police personnel, bringing total tally in the organization to 26,923, of which 1,840 are active.
The police organization also recorded 25,011 recoveries, including 123 new ones.
